Empty Nesting

After 34 years, 10 months and 10 days we are once again childless. I wish I could celebrate, but my heart is very heavy. We dropped Adam off at Camie and Spencer's home yesterday afternoon. Tomorrow Camie and her three little boys will start the trip with Adam to drop him off at BYU-I in Rexburg, Idaho. They will be stopping in Utah to spend time with other family members there and then go to Preston, Idaho to visit Grandma Martin. Grandma (Melba) has not met Camie's youngest son Dallin who is 9 months old. By now the Stake President has probably pushed the "send" button on Adam's missionary application. Adam plans to spend a semester at BYU-I then return home for the holidays and leave in January for his mission.

So here Jerry and I are, "empty nesters;" just the two of us (with 189 missionaries currently). We are the busiest we have ever been. Mission life is so intense. It has been nice to have Adam with us on the mission. It did give us the feel of normal family life. Now we will hunker down and be more like full-time missionary companions. I will travel around the mission even more with President Martin. It will be nice to dedicate myself full time to the mission for these last ten months. But oh how we will miss Adam. The missionaries are going to miss him as well. God speed, Adam.
